Apartment developer Nathan Collier has come back with a less imposing development plan for 238 W. University Ave. that reduces the number of floors from six to three and the number of apartments from 297 to 126, eliminates a 7-foot wall facing the adjacent neighborhood, widens sidewalks and adds trees.
The plan also eliminates parking garages that would have been surrounded on the first floor by fake storefront windows and replaces them with a leasing office, fitness center for residents and small retail space in the building fronting University Avenue and first-floor apartments in the other building.
The Gainesville Development Review Board approved the revised plan Sept. 27.
