Otte becomes Certified Economic Developer
City of New Smyrna Beach, FL (June 7, 2017) – The City of New Smyrna Beach announced Tony Otte, CRA/Economic Development Director, earned the designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD), a national recognition that denotes a mastery of skills in economic development, professional attainment and a commitment to personal and professional growth.
The CEcD exam was administered by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) on June 3-4, 2017 in Little Rock, AR. The minimum experience to participate in certification is four years; Otte has served the City of New Smyrna Beach since 2010 bringing many years of prior economic development experience.
The average pass rate on this rigorous exam is 33%, “The City of New Smyrna Beach is proud to have Tony on the leadership team, his commitment to the economic development of our city is exemplified by this prestigious certification,” said Pam Brangaccio, City Manager of New Smyrna Beach.
The CEcD designation recognizes qualified and dedicated practitioners in the economic development field and sets the standard of excellence within the profession. Candidates must pass a rigorous and comprehensive examination, which has three parts and spans two days.
