You wouldn’t think what sounds like a simple question would carry so much weight for a city’s future, but that may be the case for West Palm Beach.
As a Post editorial earlier this week pointed out, city officials are trying to get an early read on whether they should cut the closing times for bars and restaurants downtown from 4 a.m. to 2 a.m.
No surprise here that bar and restaurant owners aren’t to keen on this idea. Drink receipts can account for majority of a restaurants revenues on most Friday and Saturday nights. Who would want to give up that kind of money? And let’s not forget that those receipts are taxed, which is revenue for the city.
