CRA Board Approves the Purchase of 19 Housing Units at Town Park Plaza North
The Southeast Overtown / Park West Community Redevelopment Agency (“CRA”) can now add homeownership opportunities to its list of goals for Overtown. On March 1, the CRA Board of Commissioners approved $700,000 to purchase nineteen (19) townhouses at Town Park Plaza North Condominiums.This is the agencys first step to implementing the CRA Neighborhood Stabilization and Homeownership Program.
The CRA Neighborhood Stabilization and Homeownership Program is an anti-gentrification initiative designed to combat the rising housing costs in Miami-Dade County. The program will provide affordable housing to low and moderate income senior citizens and families who are seeking to purchase available homes at Town Park Plaza North Condominiums.For more information contact the CRA at (305) 679-6800.
CRA Board Approves Development for Overtown Parcel Block 55
The CRA has maintained its commitment to foster redevelopment and attract private investment into the area. On, March 1, the CRA Board of Commissioners approved Downtown Retail Associates, LLC as the highest ranked proposer to build a major mixed-use project on Block 55. The CRA owns Block 55, a 3.4 acre vacant lot located at 249 NW 6th Street .
The proposed mixed use project includes 860,000-square feet of retail and entertainment space. In addition, the project will include 115 workforce housing units and over $500,000 improvements to Sawyers Walk.
