Once completed, Leesburg’s $3.8 million streetscape project will be the city’s centerpiece, Mayor John Christian said during a groundbreaking ceremony for the project Tuesday morning.
“This streetscape is going to be the centerpiece of our great city,” he said. “We want Leesburg to be a thriving city. I commend all of you who has worked so hard for so long on this process and I’m excited to see it in the works.”
The ceremony on Main Street attracted several dozen people including city officials, contractors, members of the Leesburg Partnership, the Leesburg Area Chamber of Commerce, Lake County Economic Development and others, city spokesman Robert Sargent said in a press release.
