When most motorists pass through downtown Ormond Beach they might see an abandoned building or two.
Lucia Fanning and Kristin Heron saw blank canvas.
Now the artists’ large-scale works will serve as a backdrop for the inaugural Ormond Beach Granada Grand Festival of the Arts. Julia Truilo, executive director for Ormond Beach Main Street, said she hopes the festival shows people what kind of vibrant community downtown can become.
“I’m hoping to give people more awareness of the things we have to offer,” Truilo said. “It will show somebody cares about the district.”
At least this week, two vacant buildings along Granada have been shown a little love despite the rain that has inundated the coast.
