LAKELAND | Officials at The Lakeland Center are looking for developers to build a second hotel at the complex to meet the growing demand for lodging in Lakeland and to attract larger conventions.
Mike LaPan, executive director of The Lakeland Center, said Hyatt Place’s 127 rooms are not enough to entice larger events, and the addition of a second hotel will go a long way in changing that.
“It’s going to provide us an opportunity to bring events to Lakeland, regional meetings, things like that, that normally wouldn’t consider it because we don’t have enough hotel rooms,” he said.
Officials filed a request for qualifications document with the city, asking developers to submit a plan and a funding source for a new hotel.
