LAKELAND | The decision between two proposals for the redevelopment of a large swath of city downtown property presents two divergent paths for downtown and a tough choice for the Downtown Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory Board, board members said Thursday morning.
The Downtown CRA Advisory Board meeting was the first time elected officials discussed at a public meeting the two competing proposals in a city bid process to develop the city-owned property.
Lakeland-based Broadway Real Estate Services and Winter Haven-based Tom Wolf Co. each have made proposals to redevelop 14 acres north of the Lakeland Police Department. City officials bought the land for $8.4 million in 2005, tearing down homes and forcing residents to leave.
