Downtown Fort Myers trolleys on a roll again
Trolleys will return to the streets of Fort Myers today for a second season to ferry passengers throughout downtown.
The River District Trolley program was introduced during the 2012-13 tourist season to encourage visitors to walk around downtown and hop on a trolley when headed to a new destination. The program was successful. More than 31,000 people took advantage of the free service.
This season, city officials expect ridership to increase as more people become familiar with the service. Plus, changes have been made to the routes of the trolleys to better meet demand.
