AmeriCorps and Habitat seek to revitalize Pensacola neighborhood
Habitat for Humanity staff and AmeriCorps volunteers kicked off the 2013 AmeriCorps Build-a-Thon in Pensacola today, a week of community development projects in the Westside Garden District Neighborhood in Pensacola.About 80 AmeriCorps volunteers from across the country along with about 20 Pensacola Habitat for Humanity volunteers and staff members will be working this week in the area from Gregory to Cervantes Streets in between Pace Boulevard and A Street.
Rather than building homes from the ground up like in previous Build-a-Thons, volunteers will work on projects including yard maintenance, land clearing, sidewalk repairs and address painting.
