Downtown West Palm Beach will soon have a new team of workers patrolling its streets doing jobs usually done by city workers.
The Downtown Development Authority has signed a five-year, $3 million a year contract with an outside company to do everything from picking up trash to giving directions.
Half of the agency’s $10 million budget comes from the Community Redevelopment Agency which provides an increment of property taxes from that district to a special fund designed to improve the district.
Block by Block will begin transitioning workers in July, with a full takeover by Oct. 1.
