During the September 28, 2023 Board meeting of the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) of the City of Bradenton, The CRA voted unanimously to enter into a public-private-partnership with Freebeeproviding free micro-mobility-on-demand service. Three vehicles will provide point-to-point service within the Downtown, Tamiami Trail, and Central redevelopment areas. Bradenton CRA residents and business customers may begin using the Freebee service in about 60 to 90 days.
The Freebee/CRA partnership will change the way residents and business customers move around Bradenton by providing complimentary, on-demand, door-to-door transportation in eco-friendly vehicles. The fleet will be composed of 100% electric vehicles, reducing the number of cars on the road, traffic congestion, and freeing parking spaces. The service also connects customers with local businesses taking full advantage of amazing locations in the redevelopment areas. Notably, Freebee provides available alternatives to drinking and driving while significantly reducing the amount of carbon dioxide otherwise emitted from the tailpipes of gas-powered vehicles. Freebee vehicles are driven by friendly Community Ambassadors who drive safely while also providing an enjoyable experience.
When the service goes online, to request a ride, simply download the “Ride Freebee” app. It is advised to request your ride 20 minutes in advance. The app also includes a directory of local restaurants and other destinations available to the Bradenton CRA/Freebee customers!
Bradenton CRA Chairman Josh Cramer added, “with this signed contract, Freebee will assist the CRA with our transportation, business growth, and environmental stewardship mission. Over the next year, we will apply for a Florida Department of Transportation grant to financially assist us with our new service for the foreseeable future.”
