In a 4-3 vote on Monday, Palm Beach County Commissioners approved the creation of a CRA within the Village of Palm Springs.
Village Manager Richard J. Reade stated, ” As you can imagine, we are so pleased with this result and each of these County Commissioners showed real leadership through a very difficult process. Now, we are anxious to get started with the opportunity to provide the infrastructure needed to attract investment and jobs that are as well as the development of retail commercial opportunities to provide our community and surrounding areas with a higher quality of life.”
The CRA allows the village to redirect property tax dollars that would ordinarily go to the county and keep them locally for projects like safety improvements.
“We think the future of Palm Springs is just now beginning,” said Village Manager Rich Reade, adding that the expected $28 million over the course of 30 years will go toward projects like lighting, crosswalk improvements, signage and other redevelopment projects along Lake Worth Road,” said Reade.
