A local developer bought an Orlando Publix-anchored shopping plaza and now plans to invest millions in upgrades.
Williamsburg Downs Investors LLC, an entity of Maitland-based Equinox Development Properties Inc., bought the Williamsburg Downs Publix-anchored plaza at 5350 Central Florida Pkwy. for nearly $14 million on Sept. 12. The plaza is less than 2 miles east of SeaWorld Orlando, Aquatica Water Park and Discovery Cove.
Publix Super Markets Inc. recently signed a new 20-year lease with Equinox, and plans to redevelop and expand in its current spot, Trey Vick, president of Equinox, told Orlando Business Journal. The 39,000-square-foot Publix that’s been in the Williamsburg Downs shopping plaza since 1985 will expand to 45,600 square feet and reopen by year-end 2017, he said.
