Like most pioneers of great cities and buzzing communities, Jeffrey Ross has had an incredible career and life. Ross came to Miami by way of Los Angeles, where he first entered the restaurant industry with his critically acclaimed seafood market and restaurant, Bayshore. He sold it 10 years later to, “take a break” and freelanced as a consultant to restaurants who were in need of restructuring, “I worked at a more leisurely pace after 10 years of 16 hour days.”
Most of his family had settled in Miami, so naturally the Magic City was an appropriate next step for the hungry businessman. In the up-and-coming Downtown NoMi (North Miami) area, Ross is known for reviving one of South Florida’s hidden gems, Captain Jim’s Seafood Market Restaurant. After seeing the property one day and falling in love with its charm, he made the decision to purchase it and give it some much-needed TLC. ”You need a vision. If you’re successful, the satisfaction of having a vision and seeing it become a reality is very rewarding. When I first entered Captain Jim’s Seafood I saw it all, even the music. I saw what I knew could be here, and now, it’s here,” said Ross.
