Through a project called Mural Makeover, The Council on Culture & Arts and the Tallahassee Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) are partnering to provide select commercial property owners the opportunity to remove or prevent graffiti issues on the exterior of their buildings by way of public art murals.
With a $50,000 grant awarded for the project by the Knight Foundation at the Community Foundation of North Florida, the CRA Board of Directors has approved matching funds of $25,000 to expand the project.
This will provide funding for three properties in the Greater Frenchtown/Southside CRA district and three (3) locations in the Downtown CRA district. In order to make decisions on these locations, an application for interested property owners is now open and will be reviewed by an upstanding committee of invested community members.
A “Call for Interested Property Owners” is now open for commercial property owners and small businesses within both the Greater Frenchtown/Southside and Downtown CRA Districts who are interested in partnering with COCA to prevent and abate unwanted graffiti through the use of public art on their building.
