The Inverness City Council on Tuesday will consider approving a bid proposal from Green Technologies Inc. to refurbish the historic downtown courthouse in a cooperative effort with Citrus County.
The landscaping and building around the courthouse has been undermined over the years by tree roots and the elements. The last update to the landscaping was 20 years ago. The project includes those repairs and new landscaping. “The goal is to improve the appearance of both areas in the downtown with a blended and coordinated landscape theme,” according to the agenda memorandum.
Funding for the city side of the project is through its Inverness Community Redevelopment Agency (ICRA) Capital Improvement Projects fund of $240,000 with the remainder coming from a future budget amendment from the ICRA. Citrus County will use American Rescue Plan dollars to pay its portion.
