THIS POSITION IS APPOINTIVE SERVICE
$2,524.61 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Merritt Island. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but may require occasional evening work to attend meetings as directed. Performs experienced professional work coordinating assigned tasks, plans, and projects in support of the Merritt Island Redevelopment Agency (MIRA) mission. Work includes planning; real estate, economic, and community development; brownfield redevelopment; incentive programs; project and program management; grant research, writing, and grant contract management; assisting and coordinating with constituents, developers, consultants, other departments and agencies, and members of the general public; and assisting with promoting the mission of MIRA and redevelopment of areas under the jurisdiction of MIRA. Work involves conducting research, compiling data, and coordinating publication of organization reports and relevant redevelopment information; working with the website manager to gather and disseminate current program and website social media information content; and serving as a liaison with other county, state, federal, and community agencies, as assigned. This position is expected to coordinate and manage assigned programs, projects, and operations with considerable independence and initiative.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban & Regional Planning, or a closely related field PLUS six (6) years of progressively responsible professional experience in administering or managing programs or projects in construction management, real estate development, planning and zoning, or a closely related field. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Project management, planning, community and economic
development, real estate development, grant writing, and grant management experience is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver’s license and maintain said license during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
