The 13th annual Blueberry Festival last Saturday attracted folks from around the state to downtown Avon Park. The festival was hosted by the Rotary Club of Avon Park as a fundraiser for their organization.
Main Street was sprawling with over 100 vendors, antique cars, eye-catching motorcycles and Rotarians selling blueberries from a plentiful harvest. Bluegrass music filled the air along with the fluffy white “cotton” seeds from nearby cottonwood trees.
“It shows what’s possible in downtown with well-planned events and lots of family-friendly activities,” said Avon Park Community Redevelopment Agency Director Shawn Holiday. “There’s a lot of folks in the area. I just met a couple from Fort Myers. So, it’s a regional event that is showing people Avon Park and its burgeoning downtown.”
