DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Small businesses are the backbone of the community in Delray Beach, but many are feeling the strain amid rising rent costs.
To attract new businesses to the downtown area and keep existing mom-and-pop shops in business, the Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is opening up a new mixed-use retail and office space on 5th Avenue.
“We have a lot of small businesses that were in their homes that were looking for space but just could not afford space,” Angie Gray, a board member for the CRA told CBS12 News. “We’re going to make sure that the rents stay low and affordable.”
