From bike lanes to better drainage, the Town of Lake Park held its second public meeting to reveal plans to improve Lake Shore Drive.
At a workshop held at Town Hall, the plans included keeping Lake Shore Drive two lanes, but adding parallel parking on the west side of the street, sidewalks and bike paths, as well as new landscaping and lighting. But the most important changes will dramatically improve drainage and reduce flooding.
Calling flooding the “issue plaguing Lake Shore Drive for years,” Town officials detailed plans to raise the roadway, install check valves in various drainage pipes, build a new pump station, and use a portion of Lakeshore Park as a detention basin.
