Picture this:
A once-vibrant area within a local community overcome with blight and decay.
- Children no longer able to utilize youth programs.
- Public parks no longer accessible — even the lighting and infrastructure are considered hazards.
Revitalization of these forgotten and neglected areas is made possible through community redevelopment agencies that improve communities by implementing projects such as neighborhood parks, building renovations and affordable housing.
TOO MUCH MISINFORMATION
Unfortunately, two bills introduced in the Legislature call for vast limits to be placed on community redevelopment agencies in an attempt to eliminate them entirely in the coming years.
This attack by state lawmakers has increased the attention surrounding community redevelopment agencies. And with this attention, there has been a substantial amount of misinformation and misconceptions being spread.
