Leading off the meeting, board members were requested to attend the next Chipley City Council meeting to discuss plans for the Alleyway Project which they were told should get started within the next six months and is directed toward taking water off the alleyway behind shops facing Hwy 77 just north of Hwy 90.
Moving on to other subjects, the CRA members were informed that the City of Chipley is planning to take down the old ice plant on the southwest corner of Hwy 77 and Hwy 90 in the next budget year. CRA board members indicated they are interested in looking at plans to place a major “eye catcher” on the vacant property. Not ready to announce specific plans, board members indicated Tuesday that a park with space for digital advertising for downtown businesses could be a possibility. They estimated that a sign similar to the one at Northwest Florida Community Hospital would cost from $50,000 to $100,000, but weren’t ready to commit.
