That’s Subculture Coffee co-owner Sean Scott’s idea for opening communications between city hall and downtown businesses.
The Clematis Street uber-barrista put out the word last week on Facebook to fellow business owners to join him in meeting with Mayor Jeri Muoio and other West Palm Beach officials on a regular basis about issues of concern:
“I am spearheading a group called the Downtown Business Coalition. The purpose is to hold quarterly meetings with city dept heads, mayor and DDA to go over possible future changes in code, parking, events, etc. to create an environment of open and clear communication. This group is NOT to complain but to identify ways in which we can help build a better city,” he said in his post.
“There always seemed to be a division between downtown business owners and the city and the news picks up on it and it gets negative press,” he told me on Friday. “None of us wants that as business owners. We just want to be in the know.”
