A proposed $8.8 million office building in downtown Pensacola is one step closer to reality, but the door may be open for other developers to swoop in onto the property where a local businessman is planning his expansion.
Sitting as the Community Redevelopment Agency, Pensacola City Council on Monday approved issuing an invitation for proposals to purchase for a piece of CRA-owned property, a parking lot at 120 W. Government Street. The plan in the works is for Hixardt Technologies, whose offices are adjacent to the parking lot, to build a five-story, 40,000 square-foot office building on the property.
Hixardt Technologies owner Michael Hicks Jr. appeared before the CRA last month to show off his plans and ask for the CRA’s cooperation. He said he’s prepared to pay fair market value for the land, which was assessed in 2012 at $750,000.
