LYNN HAVEN — The organization charged with reviving the downtown area may soon be a thing of the past, as Lynn Haven commissioners are set to consider dissolving the nonprofit at a special meeting.
At a meeting Thursday, the volunteer Lynn Haven Main Street corporation moved to recommend the commission nix the organization and instead form a Downtown Advisory Board, which would focus on projects and promotions aimed at improving the downtown Florida Avenue area, efforts that essentially mirror the goals of Main Street.
The City Commission will further discuss the issue at a meeting scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The consideration was first discussed last month at the urging of Mayor Margo Anderson, who relayed concerns from residents regarding the Main Street budget, which is funded almost exclusively using funds transferred from the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).
