EAGLE LAKE — Ending blight and positioning the city to take advantage of opportunities for growth were major topics during the City Commission’s retreat Saturday.
City Manager Luke Lewis began the discussion of the city’s future by talking about blight in the 3.2-square-mile city and ways to generate revenue.
“There are areas in this city that are blighted,” Lewis said. “We have a lot of areas that are in need of improvement. As I spent my first few months here as city manager, I wanted to figure out what resources we had to allow for progress. Right now our strength as a city is one that wants to move forward but doesn’t really know how quite yet. We need to set ourselves up to capitalize on opportunities.”
