SEBRING — A majority of Sebring City Council members say they like the $2.5 million offer to buy Harder Hall, although it would leave the city with about $900,000 in debt.
The city council is expected to vote tonight on whether to approve a purchase agreement with South Florida Senior Living, Limited Partnership.
The purchaser plans to convert Harder Hall into a senior living facility providing three levels of care.
Even if the council approves the contract, the purchaser has time to do “due diligence” before making a final decision. But the purchaser is required to pay $25,000 within 15 days of March 3, then $25,000 by April 27 and $50,000 by July 26.
Councilman Mark Stewart said that he likes the part of the deal in which the buyers have to put up money that would be un-refundable if the purchase isn’t completed.
