If you enjoy a fast pace, professional and fun work environment, this may be the job for you. This position is responsible for evaluating and determining housing grant assistance eligibility. Responsibilities include recruiting and interviewing prospective homeowners for participation in the local Homeowner Housing Rehabilitation Program and participating in related public presentation and education programs. Employee conducts inspections of single family properties and prepares bid specifications related to proposed improvements. Employee must exercise initiative and independent judgment. Promotes and participates in recruiting and processing local Homeowner Housing Rehabilitation Program applicants. Interviews and screens prospective applicants. Participates in preliminary field assessment and associated Minimum Housing Code inspections. Serves as liaison with Pasco County Housing Rehabilitation Program staff. Investigates citizen/owner complaints and conducts follow up visits. Develops and implements area surveys and maintains owners’ records. Conducts technical and statistical analyses.
Applicant must possess the following: Working knowledge of Federal, State, and County housing grant program eligibility requirements; rules and regulations. Working knowledge of available public and private agency social services. Knowledge of municipal codes and methods or ability to learn within six (6) months of employment. Skill in interviewing clients, including those with special needs. Ability to collect, organize and evaluate data. Ability to learn the City’s geographical area. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Good interpersonal and organizational skills. High school diploma or GED, college preferred. Experience with design assistance preferred. Three (3) years experience in social or community services or in a government setting or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) experience preferred. Possess a valid Florida driver’s license. Ability to deal with stress related to routine deadlines and occupational problems, which demand immediate attention. Necessity to multi-task successfully. Ability to accept decisions made by others that may be in opposition of own views. Ability to deal with both legislative and administrative personnel of the City in a tactful manner.
