North Miami’s community redevelopment agency is still working to extend its life beyond 2016 and the board took some steps toward that goal at their last meeting.
The city council, acting as the CRA board, approved a redevelopment plan and schedule, discussed the CRA’s budget and decided against hiring a new executive director.
The city advertised for the executive director position last month but did not receive any bids by the Jan. 30 deadline. So the CRA will continue to be consulted by Redevelopment Management Associates, a Pompano Beach-based firm, and plans to hire an executive director later.
Councilman Scott Galvin, who proposed hiring a new director, accepted responsibility for the way the process went and said he trusts the staff’s recommendation.
