MOUNT DORA—Potential changes to the city’s comprehensive plan and land development code that would allow for taller buildings in part of the city have some concerned that tall structures could eventually invade downtown and spoil its quaint character.
The changes would allow for up to 65-foot structures in the city’s C3 zoning, the highway commercial zoning district. Planning and Development Director Mark Reggentin said buildings up to 60 feet are already allowed in the planned Wolf Branch Innovation District and in the city’s mixed-use districts on Highland Street and in the Golden Triangle shopping center area near Eudora Road’s intersection with Old U.S. Highway 441. Everywhere else, buildings may not exceed 35 feet.
