The Cape Coral City Council met Monday afternoon. Here’s a capsule look:
Who attended: Mayor Marni Sawicki, Council members Rana Erbrick, John Carisocia, Rick Williams, Lenny Nesta, Jim Burch, Richard Leon and Derrick Donnell.
Major takeaway: In a 7-1 vote City Council approved a resolution of necessity that shows the existence of blighted areas in the area known as the proposed Mid Cape Community Redevelopment Area. Councilman Rick Williams dissented. This data, based upon a study completed by Real Estate Research Consultants, allows the city to move forward with a CRA Plan, or vision for what they want this part of the city to become. The goal is to add this as a separate region with a separate trust fund.
