ORLANDO – Have you seen one of those TV shows where a crew surprises a family by renovating its house in a weekend, and workers are still painting the walls and grouting the tile two minutes before the big reveal?
Welcome to the Orlando Citrus Bowl stadium renovation.
Local VIPs will cut the ribbon on the $207 million, 10-month-long, pedal-to-the-metal renovation at 10 a.m. today, and the stadium will host the Florida Classic between Florida A&M and Bethune Cookman universities Saturday. When fans arrive, they’ll find a stadium that is “game-day ready,” which is code for we’re almost finished, but the workers will come back after you leave. Even so, they’ll see a more modern, fan-friendlier venue.
