In Eatonville, the historic hometown of “Their Eyes Were Watching God” author Zora Neale Hurston, their eyes may soon be watching helicopters soar over eight stories of Lamborghinis, Bentleys and yachts.
At least that’s the plan being offered by developers who hope to transform the town into a futuristic commercial hub.
The Eatonville Town Council will vote Tuesday on a $200 million project called “World Transportation Exchange” that would take up almost a sixth of the town, thought to be the first incorporated black community in the country.
“You will find the EXCEPTIONAL, the UNIQUE, the UNAVAILABLE,” proclaims the project website.
