LAKE WORTH — Lynn Anderson doesn’t think much of the city commission, but even she likes what they did Tuesday night: They voted 4-0 to ask county transportation officials for up to $1.65 million to pay for a trolley. Commissioner John Szerdi was absent.
Lake Worth used to have a trolley, called Lolly The Trolley, which ran from 1979 to 2007, when the commission canceled it.
Anderson, whose blog has many anti-city hall posts, told The Palm Beach Post, “We all loved the trolley, but all they talked about was how it was losing money.” City officials in 2007 estimated they needed $38,935 a month — $467,220 a year – to keep it running.
