Position Summary(Major Job Duties): The President & CEO reports to the Economic Council Board Chairman and Executive Committee and works with members of the board, committee chairs, council members, other business groups in the community, and council volunteers.
Duties and Responsibilities(Which are not in any hierarchical order):
Leadership Collaboration: Supporting, collaborating with and providing accountability and reporting to Chairman and leadership team, including attendance at monthly Executive Committee and Board of Directors meetings, implementation and administration of program of work as directed by the Board. Collaborating with staff and directors of other Martin County business organizations to achieve mutual goals.
Membership and Retention: Leading the efforts of the Membership Committee to develop and implement strategies for attracting and processing new members, initiating and managing external marketing programs and providing services internally to our members. Increasing member retention. The CEO is responsible for new member development.
Member Support: Overseeing a friendly and organized business office where the questions and concerns of council members and others are addressed positively, professionally and promptly. Supporting council leadership in their efforts to achieve the organization’s annual goals.
Communication and Public Relations: Overseeing implementation of the organization’s marketing and communication plan, including the monthly newsletter, website updates, email, social media, print advertising and correspondence. Marketing and building the organizational brand across social and traditional media. Monitoring and keeping membership aware of business and economic development issues, legislation and proposed legislation in the county, region and state.
Staff Management: Providing leadership and direction for the office team to ensure a positive employee experience and to produce quality results. Supervising, training, remediating and evaluating staff and volunteers as needed.
Financial Management: Overseeing all financial activities including annual budgeting, monthly financial reporting, receivables, payments, vendor relationships and fundraising.
Technology Oversight: Overseeing the IT systems, including the computer network, data management, and phone systems. Maximizing productivity through the effective use of technology.
Schedule & Event Management: Implementing the calendaring process, managing changes to the calendar. Establishing, maintaining and supervising operational procedures for all events. Communicating with the board leadership and membership regarding calendared items.
Facilities Management: Managing and overseeing office maintenance, upkeep, security and room set-up. Arranging for meeting facilities as needed. Maintaining a clean, attractive and welcoming environment.
Community Involvement: Establishing and maintaining relationships with other directors and CEOs of local and regional business organizations and being active in the local community.
