Position Summary(Major Job Duties): The Associate Director of Economic Development Initiatives has a documented proven track record of creating from scratch, implementing, and running programs within the following areas of our 5-year strategic plan draft: business retention and expansion, entrepreneurship, mentor-protégé, workforce development, alternative capital financing for small businesses, business assistance workshops, and international trade. This person is extremely self-directed, self-driven to succeed, and a collaborative team player with a big-picture view yet attentive to small details.
Duties and Responsibilities(Which are not in any hierarchical order):
- Create, implement, and lead a continuous business retention and expansion initiative that focuses on fortifying the supply chains of targeted industry clusters and accumulates strategic data based upon a portfolio management approach focused on member businesses.
- Create, implement, and lead a highly structured mentor-protégé program, including the recruitment of small business protégé and large business mentor participants.
- Serve as the lead contact for member / investor business-to-business relationship development activity, fostering and perpetuating connections between key stakeholders.
- Organize and lead industry established entrepreneurship programs for high-school and college participants, including the establishment of member / investor program supporters.
- Identify independently or through partners angel investors and other potential sources of tradition or alternative financing for stage-2 small businesses and start-ups.
- Develop and deploy a red-carpet meet and greet program that connects primary stakeholders with business and political leaders at the local, state, and federal level.
- Identify opportunities to connect businesses with higher education partners to develop and deploy training opportunities in support of workforce retention and recruitment.
- Create small business workshops, identify member / investor participants, and coordinate the delivery of a curriculum.
- Organize and deploy partners and resources to create workshops and provide assistance to member businesses needing support to grow international trade.
- Conduct research independently to bring forward mission critical and value added content focused on micro and macroeconomic issues, incorporating charts, graphs, and projections to guide strategic and policy decisions.
- Create a model for Investor Relations tracking and VIP member development through a roster of service deliverables grid.
- Design a rotation method of inclusion of top Chamber business leaders in economic development initiatives at a high level
