LAKE PLACID — Heated debate was the norm Monday night when the Town Council discussed fire inspections, annexing areas into the town for the creation of a Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and a resolution for funding to improve the health of Lake McCoy.
Councilman Mike Waldron told the council that he tried to find out what has happened in the 22 years since an agreement was made with the county to do fire inspections.
“What I found out was that there was not much. I couldn’t even find out how many inspections were done in Lake Placid last year,” he said.
“I am satisfied with what the businesses are doing and I think they are doing a good job,” said council member Debra Worley. “The businesses have been inspected by their families or themselves, which is the state statute.”
The debate continued until Ray Royce reframed the issue.
