Delray Beach launched a new form of free downtown transportation in July, bright red, white and blue trolleys that circulate from Atlantic Avenue to Ocean Boulevard.
But for some city officials and residents, the newly-painted vehicles that replaced the outdated, run down mini-bus service aren’t as charming as they appear.
While the trolleys save the city a couple of bucks an hour on operating services when compared to the old buses, they haven’t reached the ridership that city officials expected to see.
