Now that the Parramore Lymmo bus rapid transit system has a new name — the Lime line — it’s time to look at how to fix up the surrounding neighborhood.
The Orlando office of Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. was awarded a contract by the city of Orlando to do a comprehensive study of the Parramore neighborhood just west of downtown Orlando. The city was given a $490,000 Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant through the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development to help create a plan that would serve to revitalize the area while also maintaining its historically African-American roots.
The year-long study is slated to kick off this month, with community meetings planned for January through June, and will include analysis of current market conditions and community engagement.
