Overtown catalyst for new investment heads to commissioners
Commercial projects R. Donahue Peebles/Barron Channer and passenger rail company All Aboard Florida are spearheading in Miami’s Overtown are taking their last major step toward becoming a reality.
The projects, which would each be developed on separate blocks next to the famous Lyric Theater, are set to go before the Miami-Dade County Commission on Oct. 22.
The projects could be catalysts for more economic investment in a neighborhood with residents that make some of the least money in the county. Each project would look to leverage the local labor force during construction and after completion.
