Community leaders seeing new potential for downtown Tallahassee are days away from embarking on a project that will produce a detailed assessment of the district’s strengths and challenges, and recommend ways to guide its development.
Directing the three-month study will be consultants from Montreal-based Live Work Learn Play. They will conduct a detailed review of the downtown area and take into consideration all the variables likely to affect it in the coming years.
For members of the Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority and the joint city-county Community Redevelopment Agency, the road map comes at a critical time — recent real estate development in surrounding neighborhoods has already begun to affect the district.
