Mitchelville Freedom Park
Mitchelville Freedom Park is a Historic and Interpretive Museum to be located at Fish Hall Creek Park on Hilton Head Island, the site of the Historic Town of Mitchelville. This very important historic site was the home of the first freedman village in the United States during the Civil War. The museum and interpretive park will provide insight into the lives of African American’s first experiment in freedom during and following the Civil War. WPi provided master planning services for the Mitchelville Preservation Project and is currently assisting with planning and research for the initial phases of design and implementation.
