Maitland seeks reaction to downtown revitalization
Maitland leaders said Monday night that they are seeking more input from city residents about a plan to establish a Downtown Maitland Zoning District before an April 9 vote on the plan.
The downtown redevelopment plan, which covers a two-mile, 200-acre area along the Orange Avenue (U.S. Highway 17-92) corridor, includes infrastructure changes such as landscape and streetscape upgrades, moving utilities underground and improving the sewer system.
It also includes regulations for density and building height within the district.
“One thing that we’ve attempted to do since December … is to garner public input,” Verl Emrick, executive director of the city’s community redevelopment agency, told the city council. “We haven’t heard from more than 20 people.”
