BRADENTON — The Bradenton Central Community Redevelopment Agency’s key role in founding the CareerEdge job training program has earned it The President’s Award from the 300-member Florida Redevelopment Association.
The Bradenton agency is among only 12 such agencies to be recognized by the association.
CareerEdge was funded by 13 different agencies, governments and private businesses throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties and has provided job training to hundreds of residents of the CCRA district.
“This award acknowledges the importance of workforce development as a key component to revitalizing economically challenged communities,” said Sherod Halliburton, executive director of the CCRA, which was formed 10 years ago to eliminate blight in Central Bradenton.
