FORT PIERCE — South Florida’s loss is Fort Pierce’s gain.
Two superyachts — The Lady Lau and The Freedom — are docked at the Indian River Marine Terminal at the Port of Fort Pierce for maintenance after a shortage of space in South Florida sent the captains and crew north, said Buddy Haack of Taylor Lance Yacht and Ship in Dania Beach.
“There are so many places down there, but we’ve run out of space,” Haack said of his Broward County shipyard.
The Lady Lau, a 212-foot, $44 million superyacht, has been docked here since late October. Another vessel, The Freedom, a 229-foot vessel with eight staterooms and a helicopter pad, arrived Saturday. Both are slated for more than $1.5 million of repairs.
