Crystal River officials will have downtown development on their minds during this evening’s government meetings.
During a Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) board meeting — chaired by City Council members — board members will get an update on the city’s Aug. 6 submission to Tallahassee of its Main Street Program application.
Karen Pieters, volunteer with Crystal River’s Main Street Group and wife to City Manager Dave Burnell, has been working with local businesses and governments to secure funding and support to apply for the program.
If the application is accepted by the state within the next two weeks, technical consultants will arrive to advise businesses and officials on how to best improve Crystal River’s downtown.
