MANATEE — Betting on visibility and high traffic volumes, a national player in retail real estate is bringing its game to the Bayshore area of the Tamiami Trail.
Casto Development, a Columbus, Ohio-based real estate investment and services firm, will start construction this fall on a small strip center that is already attracting new businesses to a long-disused property. The company will tear down an empty, former Blockbuster Video retail store at 6224 14th St. W. in September, then start construction on a 9,000-square-foot, multi-tenant building.
A Jimmy Johns franchise and an AT&T cellular store have already committed to leasing the end cap spaces in the building. Room remains for two or three more tenants. The company is in negotiation with one or more interested parties for those spaces.
