INVERNESS — From security cameras at the Inverness Government Center and boardwalk lighting at Cooter Pond Linear Park to the grand opening of the Valerie Theatre and a master plan regarding fire services within the city limits, the city of Inverness is gearing up for a banner year in 2015.

What will 2015 look like? Inverness City Manager Frank DiGiovanni answered that question in his 16th annual State of the City address at the final city council meeting of 2014. Some of the highlights include:

* Improved, more user-friendly online services including a redesigned website and a new city event portal that will be a one-stop place for event information.

* Finish projects started, including the Cooter Pond boardwalk lighting and automated utility meters, and of course, the Valerie Theatre and plaza, with a projected grand opening celebration set for Saturday, June 6.
