A seven-story apartment building with 103 units is headed for a vote before Opa-locka’s Planning & Zoning Board next Tuesday, as Abreu Development pushes forward with a residential project near the city’s airport. The proposal also calls for a gym and 159 parking spaces, according to plans now under review by city officials.
The development, which would rise in Opa-locka, was first detailed by the South Florida Business Journal, which reported that Abreu Development filed the plans for board consideration. The outlet reported the building’s seven stories, its 103 apartments, the inclusion of a gym, and the 159 parking spaces among the project’s core details.
The airport-area proposal lands as Opa-locka pursues a far larger transformation of its downtown. The city’s community redevelopment agency approved negotiations with a group of developers for a ground lease covering nearly 1.5 city-owned acres, according to The Real Deal. That deal would mark the first phase of a project known as Opa-Locka City Place.
